QACPS' local Teacher of the Year program is affiliated with the Maryland and National Teacher of the Year Program. Along with receiving many awards from our local sponsors, the teacher who is named QACPS Teacher of the Year has the privilege to represent Queen Anne's County all year long. This teacher attends events with the other 23 district teachers of the year along with being privileged to meet with the State Superintendent regularly to advise him/her about policy and reform efforts. This prestigious honor is announced at the QACPS Annual Awards Gala every April. 

The Annual Awards Gala is an event that allows QACPS to put a spotlight on their outstanding employees. These employees are nominated by parents, students, community members, supervisors, and other QACPS employees. These nomination submissions are then carefully reviewed by a selection committee for each award. During the gala, each award is announced and presented. The gala concludes with the announcement of the next year's Teacher of the Year. This event and each award is sponsored by businesses and members of this great community. Stephanie MacKenzie

Stephanie MacKenzie, Queen Anne’s County Public Schools Teacher of the Year,

Stephanie MacKenzie is a strong advocate for mental health awareness, empathetic teaching, and civic responsibility.  She received her Administrative Certification from Johns Hopkins University (2019), Master’s Degree from Wilmington University (2012), and a Bachelor’s Degree from Wesley College (2010).  Stephanie teaches 8th grade English Language Arts and is also Service Learning Coordinator, actively presenting students opportunities to learn empathy, and practice civic involvement.  Currently participating in multiple committees, including Equity, Social Emotional Learning, and Title I Engagement, she won QACPS New Teacher of the Year, NHD History Teacher of the Year, and QACPS’ Spirit Award for coaching competitive cheerleading. 
She is a Finalist for the 2021-22 MSDE Teacher of the Year.
