The GRACIE Project is a group of fourth and fifth graders who meet every Thursday morning prior to the school day with 5th Grade Teacher, Mr. Billy Richardson.  The goal of the group is to raise awareness of environmental issues that affect both our student body and our community.
These endeavors enabled Grasonville Elementary School to be certified in 2014 as a Green School with the State of Maryland, the first one on the Eastern Shore of MD.

  • The GRACIE Project was conceptualized by Mr. Richardson.  In 2014, we were awarded two grants: one from 'Keep Maryland Beautiful' which allowed us to create an outdoor classroom focusing on native plants; and the second grant from Chesapeake Bay Trust which allowed us to create a wetland learning center which is located behind the back of the school.  Both places will enable the teachers to engage the students in hands-on learning.
