Meet Mrs. Schoonmaker

Mrs. Schoonmaker is a Maryland native, and grew up in Frederick County.  She attended East Carolina University for undergraduate studies and earned a B.S. in Elementary Education.  Upon Graduation, she returned to Frederick County and taught many grades for Frederick County Public Schools. During her 11 year tenureship with FCPS, she has had the honor of teaching fifth and third grade as a classroom teacher.  In 2013, Mrs. Schoonmaker earned her Master's degree in Reading Specialization from Hood College in Frederick, MD., SHortly after, she pursued a position as a  Reading Intervention in a title one school.    She transitioned into a role to help support struggling readers, and provide small groups and specialized lessons to help them gain success in reading, specifical in the areas of English Language Learners.  Mrs. Schoonmaker joined QACPS after she moved to the area in 2018.  She proudly taught first and third grade at Grasonville Elementary, and is currently a first grade teacher at Centreville Elementary.
