Recent Band News |

On May 19, 2021, the
Marching Lions Band took their first step in their return
to the field this fall as they held the 2021 Marching
Lions Percussion and Color Guard Clinics. A great
evening was had by all that were in attendance.

On May 25, 2021, the Concert and Symphonic Bands performed their 2021
Virtual Spring Concert. It can be found

On May 24, 25, and 27, 2021,
the Marching Lions Band held their 2021 Marching
Lions Band Mini Camp. There was a great
turnout of both new and returning members. Everyone
had a great evening getting to play through the music of
the upcoming fall field production. The music is
from the former Cirque Du Soliel show La Nouba that was
performed in Orlando, Florida.

On July 26 - August 6, 2021,
the Marching Lions Band held their 2021 Band Camp
where they worked on learning the first portion of their
fall field production of Music from Cirque Du Soliel: La
Nouba. In addion to working on the show music and
field show drill, they were also introduced to several
other selectoins that they will play throughout the fall.
They also learned a selection to be used for the Queen
Anne's County Fair Parade. Band Camp was concluded
by a performance of what they had leared of the field show
production, that was shared with family and friends that
atteneded this presentation in Lions Stadium. It can

On August 9, 2021, the
Marching Lions Band traveled to the Queen Anne's County
4-H Park to perform as a part of the county fair's opening
ceremonies. They presented the first three
selections from their fall field show production in a
stand still performance. It can be found

YouTube Channel. Then following the opening
ceremony, they led the 4-H clubs around the 4-H Park in
the Fair Parade.

On September 18, 2021, the Marching
Lions Band traveled to Odessa High School’s Ducks Stadium
in Townsend, DE for their first competition of the season.
After another week of very hard work, the band started
their season with a score of 77.7 that earned them a 1st
Place finish in Group 1 Open. The performance can be

On September 25, 2021, the Marching
Lions Band traveled to Lake Forest High School in Felton,
DE for their second competition of the season. After
another week of very hard work finishing up putting the
rest of the show on the field, they gave a great
performance and increased their score to 78.45. They
also received the specialty awards for Best Percussion and
Best Color Guard. The performance can be found

On October 1, 2021, the Marching Lions
band participated in a day full of Homecoming Acivites
that included a stand still performance of their show
music at the Pep Rally, marched from Kennard Elementary
School to the High School in the Homecoming Parade,
presented the 2021 Homecoming Mass Band Pre-Game
presentation with the marching bands from Sudlersville and
Centreville Middle Schools, performing an arrangement of
God Bless America, and then performing their complete show
for the first time at home for half time.

On October 9, 2021, the Marching
Lions Band traveled to Appoquinimink High School in Middletown,
DE for their third competition of the season. After
two weeks of hard work cleaning up various aspects of the
show, they gave a great
performance and increased their score to 80.45. The performance can be found

On October 20, 2021, the Combined Concert
Band, made up of the members of both the Concert and
Symphonic Bands, along with the Chorus, Concert Choir, and
Dance 3 and 5 classes presented the 2021 QACHS Pops
Concert. The theme of this year's concert was
Disney. Each group presneted seletions on their own,
before the Combined Concert Band and two dance classes
colaborated in the final performacne of the evening, The
Lion King - Broadway Selections. After almost two
years, since the last live concert was performed on the
stage in the John F. Andrews Performing Arts Center, the
students and audience alike was happy to be back together
in person for this wonderful night of music. The

On October 23, 2021,
the
Marching Lions Band gave their best performance of the
season at the T.O.B. Region 9 Championships that brought
their competition season to a close. With this they earned
a score of 84.35, earning them a first place finish out of
two bands as a Group 1 Open and the title of “Group 1 Open
Champions.” This score is an improvement of 6.65 points
across 5 weeks. Along with this accomplishment, they also
brought home the awards for 1st Place Music, 1st Place
Visual, Best Percussion, and Best Auxiliary (Color Guard).

On December 1, 2021, the Jazz Band,
Combined Concert Band, made up of the members of both the
Concert and Symphonic Bands, Marching Lions Band along
with the Chorus, and Concert Choir presented their 2021
"Sounds of the Holiday Season" Winter Concert. After
each group presented various Holiday seletions on their
own, the Combined Concert Band and Combine Choirs
colaborated in the final performance of the evening, Goin'
on a Sleigh Ride. The performance videos can be

On February 5, 2022,
QACHS had 5 students that traveled to Colonel Richardson
High School to audition for a spot in the 2022 Senior
All-Shore Honors Band. The results of the auditions
are as follows:
1st Chair Clarinet – Brooke T.
14th Chair Clarinet
– Julia K.
6th Chair Alto Saxophone – Hailee M.
1st Alternate for Alto Saxophone – Lea A.
1st
Chair Mallets – Hillary O.

On February 24, 2022,
14 students from QACHS traveled to Kent Island High School
to perform and be adjudicated at the Maryland District V North
Solo and Ensemble Festival.
These 14 students performed as a part of 8 different
events made up of duets, trios, and quartets that were all
student led and rehearsed. The outcome of the day is,
they brought home 5 Superior Ratings and 3 Excellent
Ratings.

On March 9, 2022,
the QACHS Combined Concert Band traveled
to North Dorchester High School in Hurlock to attend the
2022 Maryland District V Band Festival.
This is our annual District Evaluation
where we play a warm-up selection, and two other prepared
selections that are for evaluation on stage and then move
to another room to go through a Sight Reading Assessment.
This combined ensemble presented an excellent performance
on stage and did an amazing job in sight reading. They
received a “Superior” rating for their stage performance,
and a “Superior” rating in Sight Reading for an overall
“Superior” rating for the day.

On March 13, 2022, the Pit Orchestra,
fondly refered to as the "Peach Pit" helped close two
great weekends of performances of "James and the Giant
Peach" as well as a daytime peformance for and audiance of
elementary and middle school students in the middle of the
week between the two shows.

On April 1 - 2, 2022, The 4 students that
were selected in February as memebers of the 2022 Senior
All-Shore Honors Band traveled to Easton High School for
two days, to attend the rehearsals, a banquet and the
concert . The concert featured both the Junior and
Senior All-Shore Bands and provided the audience with a
great evening of live muisc. Everyone was happy to
be able to attend this concert once again in person as the
last live All-Shore Concert was held in April of 2019 at
QACHS.

On May 5, 2022, the Combined Concert Band, made up of the members of both the
Concert and Symphonic Bands, Marching Lions Band along
with the Chorus, and Concert Choir presented their 2022
Spring Concert. After
each group presented various seletions on their
own, the Combined Concert Band and Combine Choirs
colaborated in the final performance of the evening by
saluting our Armed Forces Personael and Veterans by
performing a medley of armed forces service songs titled
American Heroes. The performance videos can be

On May 10, 2022, the QACHS Jazz Ensemble
and the CMS Jazz Ensemble performed at the 17th Annual
QACHS Night of Jazz held in the QACHS Cafe. The
evening was filled with outstanding performances of
classic and contemporary Jazz favorites. Both bands
were excited to finally be back togther to present this
night after loosing the last two years. The evneing
concluded with a combined performance of "Sanford and
Son". The performance videos can be found
