    October 2022

We are very pleased to report that our Homecoming 2022 was a huge success.  Our students performed extremely well throughout the week of activities which included our pep rally within our stadium, our dance which hosted over 700 students, and our football game.  Excellent job Lions!

Our Q1 Interim Reports were emailed home on Friday, September 30th.  Please carefully review these reports with your child and contact his or her teacher or school counselor with questions.  Paper copies of these reports are available upon request. Our First Quarter ends on November 2nd. Q1 Grade Reports will be distributed on November 11th.

We are excited to announce that our student produced morning announcement program “The Roar Report” is aired and posted each morning.  The Roar Report is a great way to stay up to date with our daily activities and upcoming events.  You can find each days’ program on the homepage of our website.

Interact Club is a service club sponsored by Centreville Rotary.   The final organizational interest meeting for new students will take place on Tuesday, October 4th at 2:30-3:00pm in the cafeteria.   Regular meetings will take place every other Tuesday for this year's members.

On the morning of October 12th, sophomores and pre-registered juniors will take the PSAT.  The PSAT offers great preparation for the SAT and allows students to start improving skills and knowledge needed for success in college and career.  Students can prepare for the PSAT by reviewing the PSAT Student Guide, along with the practice test, to better understand all the directions and become familiar with the types of questions that will be asked.  On test day, students should come prepared with two number #2 pencils (non-mechanical) and a calculator.

On October 13th we will have Underclassmen Picture Make-Up Day.  Please see the attached flyers below for ordering information in both English and Spanish.

On October 27th, the QACHS National Honors Society will be hosting their Induction Ceremony beginning at 5:00 PM in the auditorium.

On October 28th, Jostens will be here during all lunch shifts to take class ring and Senior Cap and Gown orders. You can visit Jostens.com for more information.   Cap and Gown information has been distributed to our seniors.  Packets are available in our main office.

Also, on October 28th, Chesapeake College Dual Enrollments will take place at 9:10AM in the school cafeteria.   Students must sign up on Naviance to be able to attend this meeting.   Any student who has “College Classes” in their schedule for next semester should sign up to attend. Chesapeake College Registration for spring semester at QACHS will take place on November 16th.

It's a busy time for seniors! The School Counseling Office is hosting college admissions representatives throughout October and into the Fall. Please check Naviance to see the list of attendees.

QACHS will participate in the 2022 Maryland Youth Risk Behavior Survey and Youth Tobacco Survey, conducted by the Maryland Department of Health in collaboration with the Maryland State Department of Education and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The survey was designed by the CDC to identify risk behaviors that may include safety behaviors such as the use of helmets and seat belts, depression, and mental health, use of tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs, nutrition, and physical activity, and sexual behavior. The survey will be 45 minutes long, and participating classes will be randomly selected. QACHS will administer the survey on November 3, 2022. If you do not want your child to complete the survey, please complete the "opt-out" form  attached and return it to the main office by October 28, 2022. If you have any questions or concerns, contact our Academic Dean, Billie Brice at 410.758.0500.

The PTSA is hosting a fundraiser to purchase toolboxes for each of our automotive students so they can be prepared and successful in the workforce! Donate today!

As a reminder, schools are closed for students on October 21 and October 31. This information and much more can be found on our website, www.qachs.org.  And as always, please do not hesitate to contact us if we can provide assistance.
