Queen Anne’s County High School Families,

    Attention all students:
ALL laptops, cases and chargers will be collected before the end of the school year. If you do not have a laptop charger you will be charged for one. Plan ahead and order a replacement charger  from Amazon. If you do not have a Gumdrop case you will be charged for one. Plan ahead and order a replacement Gumdrop case from Amazon.

Only 26 days until our Commencement Ceremony honoring The Class of 2022! You will find a list of important dates towards the bottom of this letter!

Graduation Tickets: Each graduate will receive 8 tickets total, 3 green and 5 gold. If we experience inclement weather on Wednesday, June 1st, the ceremony will move to Friday, June 3rd If we still have inclement weather on Friday, June 3rd, then the ceremony will move indoors. Due to limited seating in the gymnasium and the auditorium, the gold ticket holders will be seated in the gymnasium and the green ticket holders will be seated in the auditorium.

Graduation Seating: Reserved seating will be available on the stadium floor for anyone with a physical impairment. If the ceremony is moved indoors, reserved seating will be located in the gymnasium. Please contact Ms. Michaels via email if you have a family member that will require reserved seating no later than May 20th at: kathleen.michaels@qacps.org

Senior Laptop Collection: Senior laptops will be collected during the week of May 23rd.  Seniors will be able to keep their laptop until the afternoon of the 27th if needed, though, they will be able to turn them in at any time that week.  Seniors will return their laptop, with a  charger, to our media center.

Scholarship Opportunities:   There are still a few scholarship opportunities available to seniors. While many deadlines have passed some are still open. The Bramble Scholarship is still open and accepting applications. Check Naviance for details.

Seniors Attending College:    All seniors should set their attending college on Naviance.   This will ensure the timely submission of your final transcript to the college/community college/trade school you choose to attend.

Senior Future Plans:  Seniors should look for a Google Form to be sent by Mrs. Betts next week. It is important that ALL SENIORS RESPOND so that we have a record of your future plans after graduation at this time. Look for this form to hit your email next week.

Senior Awards Night:   Our annual Senior Awards Night is set for Tuesday, May 24th at 6:00pm. Seniors should be checking their email as we hear from various scholarship committees of who their recipients are; we will be notifying you via email. Please note that some scholarship organizations will reach out to you directly. This is an exciting evening, so mark your calendar.

Cap & Gown Distribution:   Jostens will be at school on May 11th during lunch shifts for cap and gown distribution.

Obligations:  Avoid the stress. Seniors should check and clear any obligations with Ms. Bowser, our Finance Secretary. Ms. Bowser will be with Josten’s when seniors pick up caps and gowns so students will be able to clear obligations at that time. Obligations not cleared moving forward can hold up receiving your graduation tickets and diplomas.

9-11th grade Laptop Collection: Our underclassmen laptop computers and power cords will be collected at the end of the school year. We are currently generating our collection plan and we will send a separate email later this month containing the details and dates of collection.   The students are expected to turn in their computer with the gumdrop case, and both pieces of their power cords.  You can purchase a replacement power cord here. Our 9-11th graders will receive the same computer for the 2022/2023 school year that they were issued this year.

Q4 Interim Reports: The halfway point to our 4th Quarter is quickly approaching!  Q4 Interim Reports will be emailed home on Friday, May 13.  As always, please review these documents with your student and contact our teachers or school counselors with questions. The end of the semester will approach rapidly and these reports are the best indicators of final course grades.

Juniors:   Any junior considering an internship in the fall should stop by guidance to pick up paperwork and begin making those arrangements now.

2022-23 Schedules:   Schedules are still under development. It’s not too late to make adjustments to course selections. Therefore, if you want to make adjustments, please schedule an appointment with your counselor. Tentative schedules will be sent prior to the close of school.
